Hello SDAFS members!

This is the 1st call for submissions to be included in the upcoming Southern Division of the American Fisheries Society 2024 Newsletter. Please send submissions to [email protected] by Monday December 2nd, 2024.

As usual, we would like to hear about what our SDAFS members and their respective groups have been working on since this past summer and into the new year.

Usual topics (current, past, or upcoming activities and events):

· Chapter (sub)unit updates, events, and activities

· Committee updates & technical reports

· Meeting & Symposium (upcoming announcements; past meeting minutes)

· Workshop announcements (upcoming workshops or update on recent past workshops)

· Member recognition, scholarships, and student awards

· Social Media (group updates/announcements, podcasts, etc.)

· Pressing issues and interesting news on fisheries/conservation

· Recent or upcoming publications (with links, if available)

· Pictures please!!! + you do not necessarily have to write an article to go with it—we’d love to include some of your awesome field + lab or fish photos with a simple caption.

A few other fishery-related submission ideas*:

· Share links to virtual materials (e.g., recordings of subunit meetings, guest speakers, seminars, workshops, etc.) that are free and publicly accessible, or links to online courses/resources that you would recommend

· Photos of your fish artwork (or other aquatic species)

*Please note that we may not be able to include all submissions, but we will consider everything carefully.

Please send submissions to [email protected] by Monday December 2nd, 2024. With the exception of photos and publications, please forward all submissions as .doc or .docx files and include “SDAFS Newsletter” in the subject line.
